FITNESS AND STABLE HEALTH FOUNDATION C.O.O DR.MOKAYA ONSASE TELLS UHURU TO ADOPT THE FSHF TO ACHIEVE UHC
Dr.Mokaya Onsase the Chief Operations Officer Fitness and Stable Health Foundation.

Fitness and Stable health Foundation Chief Operations Officer C.O.O:Dr.Mokaya Onsase has now urged president Uhuru Kenyatta theough a proposal presented o the Ministry of Health for approval to adopt the Fitness and Stbale Health Foundation strategy to help his government achieve the Universal health agenda. The foundation has gained widespread popularity on Kajoado and Nairobi counties at grassroot levels for offering not only medical services but also a home visit to check on the progress of clients once discharged from hospitals and linking with nearby health facilities to offer a comprehensive health package.

Dr. Mokaya Onsase claims that when it comes to the cost of medical care, a popular saying goes that majority of Kenyans are one medical emergency away from poverty. It is therefore not surprising that Universal Health Coverage (UHC), one of President Kenyatta’s Big Four Agenda, has quickly gained traction relative to the other three pillars — enhancing manufacturing; food security and nutrition; and affordable housing.

Onsase says the foundation that has been founded on strong health grounds could help close the health inequalities experienced and improve the health care delivery in the country if put as part of the parents to propel the agenda.
Fitness and Stable Health foundation CEO and founding member Dr.Arimi Bonface in a past fuction.

FSHF C.E.O Dr Bonface Arimi in an interview with Kenya Top Secrets at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital said FSHF is currently running programs that consist providing medical assistance to the population in Nairobi through partnerships with various health-care providers.
Onsongo said: 'To be clear, FSHF’s senior care package is not insurance, but has a potential of being linked to NHIF to offer home based medical services too. It is a Care Coordination Service.
"Our packages are customized to match your senior’s needs and designed to make sure that your loved one(s) get the care they need, when they need it.
Plus, we go beyond delivering essential care because we’ll get your Senior plugged into important services like nutrition and fitness support as well as local wellness resources." Said the CEO Dr.Arimi Bonface.

Below, we lay out the sign-up process in detail. But here’s a quick summary: you just tell us about your senior, we work with you to put together a package, you pay into a dedicated fund, and we coordinate everything from there.'

Most people treated of conditions like diabetes never have the opportunity to visit the hospital frequently. That is the gap FSHF will fill as it will be tasked with the role of what we call a home visit.
In the home visit, medical practitioners together with the relevant team according to the package you subscribed to, will be visiting your home to offer care instead of persistently going to the hospital to get services. We have gone along way to even provide nursing care which can be done from the home setting without visiting the hospital. Said the Chief Operations Officer Dr. Mokaya Onsase.

HOW FSHF WILL BE WORKING
As soon as you have enrolled and deposited the funds, or Subscrived to NHIF through a link with the foundation, your loved one will be assigned a Health Navigator and we will take it from there.
Our Health Navigator will contact your loved ones and schedule a visit or phone call to explain the benefits, gather information on their health status and schedule their baseline clinical visit and the fitness and nutritional assessments.
Your Senior’s FSHF Health Navigator will be responsible for the following:
1.Signing up your loved ones to our service and that of all relevant providers.
2. Ensure that all necessary paperwork is filled out properly
and that your loved ones are on-boarded.
3.Your Health Navigator will also help your loved one enroll in the National Hospital
Insurance Fund (NHIF).
Arranging for Care.
5.Your Health Navigator will be there to help set up and coordinate all appointments
and health services, serving as the first point of contact.
If there’s a problem or any questions, whether they are medical or administrative in
nature, your loved ones will be able to contact their Health Navigator as needed to
address the issue.
6.Your Health Navigator will be there as a point of first contact to answer any questions
that may arise during your senior’s health journey.
7.Your Health Navigator will also be there to assist with any prescribed follow-up care.
8.Your Health Navigator will also provide information about local wellness programs as
well as keep your Senior up to date as FSHF expands its benefits and services.

At FSHF, we make every effort to make Senior Care easy. Since good healthcare is about more than having access to a doctor and medicine, our Senior Care Package includes a number of benefits designed to impact the overall lifestyle of your loved ones so that they can live healthier, better lives.

Dr.Onsase Mokaya wants the national government and county govenment to use this model to reach out to its citizens so as to afford healthcare through linking it to NHIF.

The new initiative is expected to herald the transformation of country’s health sector that is marred by inequalities because of poverty and lack of medical insurance.

"Millions of Kenyans cannot afford to pay for health services in public or private clinics because of poverty." Said Dr.Bonface Arimi the CEO FSHF.
A 2014 World Bank report on healthcare in Kenya showed that only 20 per cent of Kenyans have access to medical insurance.

Kenyans will have increased access to preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative health services at minimum financial burden, thereby eliminating inequalities in access to health care should president uhuru and the Ministry of Health enter into a partnership with the foundation before 2022.
Kenyans will have free consultation, diagnosis services for normal ailments and get drugs for free.
UHC is expected to boost access to medical and minor surgical services, maternal and child healthcare services through the support of elaborate public health education.
The programme will also enhance HIV, tuberculosis and malaria treatment in the country. FSHF wants to be tasked with the objective of formulating and implementing the execution of activities on the grassroots.

Despite the undeniable urgency to implement UHC, Kenya has to get it right. Dr. Mokaya Onsase said.
The World Bank has contributed Sh2 billion to the programme.
Counties will pay community health workers for services within the counties. FSHF will be expected to enroll community health workers through its home visit programs to deliver healthcare services at grassroots and this will go a long way in achieving the objectives of president Uhuru agenda on UHC.

So far, only one in eight Kenyans is registered with the NHIF.
In its current state, the national insurer does not have the capacity to reimburse all hospitals after treatment of patients.
NHIF is also currently dogged by corruption scandals and loss of more than Sh50 billion. FSHF when tasked with the role will reduce the burden among healthcare providers and costs incurred in seeking healthcare as they will be offering a comprehensive package including nutritional assessment and educating the clients on the needs of lifestyle modification which is rarely done in many hospital setting.

Despite heavy investments by the government in health services, more than half of total health expenditure is non-public, meaning that most of health expenses are not met by the government.

Numerous government programmes that have ploughed huge sums of money without robust accountability and performance management measures have come to naught. Without belabouring the point, UHC is too important a programme to be condemned to a similar fate. Stable Health Foundation will go along way in seeing Kenya achieve its main agenda in the next 5 years.

The pilot phase funds have been split 30 per cent to health facilities to provide services, and 70 per cent to the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority to provide commodities. It is highly questionable whether a focus on commodities should  be the main thrust of the programme. However with FSHF and NHIF partnership,Kenya will achieve its main agenda as highlighted. It now remains in president Uhuru desk to think around the deal presented to him by the exe drive team of FSHF.
